5 appointments, more than 30 people involved in the production and distribution of the project, 8 broadcast cameras, 30 microphones, 40 countries and nearly 480 thousand people in the audience: these are the numbers employed in the “La Filarmonica della Scala in diretta nei cinema HD” initiative.
For its 30th anniversary La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra launches the project that will bring the greatest symphonic music live and in high definition from Teatro della Scala directly to many Italian and international cinemas. On the night of the 26th January 2012 Italy will welcome the special preview in its main cinemas. The new La Scala Director Daniel Barenboim opens the season with Boléro di Ravel and De Falla’s Noches en los jardines de España. The list of concerts will continue with sounds that go from the 18th century up to today, all directed by influential Maestros of international fame: the Director of the prestigious Philadelphia Orchestra Christoph Eschenbach, Riccardo Chailly, Sefano Bollani, the young Andrea Battistoni who will direct La Scala Philarmonic Orchestra in some of the most charming of Rachmaninov’s pieces and Fabio Luisi who was recently named Principal Conductor of the Metropolitan Opera of New York.
The initiative is sponsored by UniCredit Banca Group (Philharmonic’s main partner), produced by Musicom.it and distributed by Nexo Digital, which is the company that brought to Italian theaters Lang Lang, Metropolitan and Bol’šoj. The cinema audience has the chance to experience the concert that is happening live in La Scala in Milan while comfortably sitting in cinema seats in their own cities, with the advantage of being able to observe up close the orchestra, all the solo passages and the movements, gestures and facial expressions of the Conductor. After the concert, the audience will be honored with an exclusive back stage and a Teatro della Scala foyer visit followed by interviews and comments from the artist; all coordinated by Art Director Pietro Tagliaferri and Director Francesco Micheli.
