These places exist: they live, evolve, ferment, simmer and make their voice heard in the artistic situation, which is quite stiff and dusty in this country. We succeeded in meeting Luigi Presicce and Davide Daninos thanks to the help of Artissima Lido, a section dedicated to the artist-run spaces by Christian Frosi, Renato Leotta and Diego Perrone. This is what they told us.
Space Two: Brown Project Space

How did you conceive your space?
Luigi Presicce and Davide Dininos: Brown Project Space was born on 18th February 2008 as a space where young artists can create important projects without reaching a compromise with the art galleries business system.
The absolute value of the piece of art encouraged us to take this project up because we disagree with the arts business that has tended to choose the container over the art work.
Where do we find this place?
Brown Project Space opened four years ago in Milan in Via Bartolomeo Eustachi, where its historical base is. We are restoring the new headquarters in Milan and we are working on new projects that surely will lead us to settle in different places.
Who does animate it?
Brown Project space was pounded by Valentina Suma, Luca Francesconi e Luigi Presicce, who has been at the head of this project as director since August 2010. We have always been helped by external contributors such as Gianluca Concialdi and Fedra Liebe, and collaboration with Davide Daninos has been started since 2011. The things that obviously animated the project are the direct relationship with the artists who have collaborated with us and the public interest, which has grown varied as time has gone by.
What is the philosophy behind it?
We conceived our trusteeship as a discipline of both drawing and sculpture. We have always looked at themes and artists we liked the most. So our choices have been oriented towards spirituality, metaphysics, alchemy and popular arts. We wish we will propose a parallel way to the actual system in order to create new forms of approach to the arts.
What is the schedule for 2012?
Nowadays our work is double: on one hand, we restoring the new base and we have been waiting for the surprises it will bring; on the other hand, our energies are all focused on the new project’s edition Laboratorio, which will be hosted at Luigi Presicce’s artist-residence hall at Macro museum of Rome. We are going to be the project’s curators and the artists from March to July 2012. Vittorio Cavallini, Davide Daninos, Andrea Kvas, Attila Faravelli, Nicola Martini, Jonatah Manno, Jacopo Menzani, Oh Petroleum, Luigi Presicce and Fabrizio Prevedello will part of this project.
Do you have any wish?
There is no wish at all, goal at most. For some of us, a goal may be ruling the world and making human beings slaves.
